Controller

Strongstown B&K is looking for a Controller to manage the accounting department!

The Controller will manage the accounting department and provide financial information about B&K Enterprises, Inc. The Controller will assist management and shareholders by providing high-level financial reports, managing accounting activities, providing financial information, and assisting in making educated financial decisions.

 

Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Operate the department and produce financial information in accordance with GAAP.
  • Ensure all activities of the accounting department are accurate and efficient, including but not limited to, payroll and AP/AR functions.
  • Ensure timeliness of financial reports, including but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
  • Manage month-end closing processes and reporting, including any spreadsheet/presentation preparation.
  • Provide support for corporate tax account compliance
  • Supporting the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Review Work-In-Progress (WIP), inventory management, insurance audits, and GL management.
  • Establish job cost control, departmental budgets line of business reviews and the yearly forecast.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, data, and adequate segregation of duties.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely financial reports/needs of the Senior Leadership Team, as assigned/requested.
  • Participate in a variety of special projects and compile necessary reports.
  • Abide by all company regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment, when needed.

 

Skills of the Controller:

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax banking, forecasting, and budgeting – according to GAAP.
  • Above average knowledge of word, excel, email, internet, inventory control, and accounting software.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer needs and requests for service.
  • Ability to speak clearly in positive and negative situations, respond professionally to questions, and participate in meetings.
  • Write clearly and informatively, edit work for spelling and grammar, present numerical data effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information and numerical data.
  • High level of confidentiality.

 

Qualifications for the Controller:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of accounting experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of SAGE 300, preferred.
